EIS Electronic Integrated Systems Inc. of Toronto, Ontario, Canada has developed the most reliable detection if all weather conditions that is the quickest, simplest, and safest installation on low roadside poles without interrupting traffic.  RTMS™ (remote traffic microwave sensor) provides eight detection zones over a range from 20 feet to 200 feet.  The unit is a "true-presence" detecting unit for each of the zones and can provide accurate measurements of volume, occupancy and average speed.  Output from the unit is both data and dry contact which can be integrated into traffic management centers for freeway operations and can replace loop detectors by connecting to loop terminals in cabinets and installing an interface card in the loop monitor card rack.
